With Election Day just around the corner, we're hitting the streets harder than ever. Last weekend we knocked on over 200 doors in the 4B01 neighborhood and the conversations were incredible. Neighbors are fired up about pedestrian safety on Georgia Avenue and the need for stronger tenant protections. If you haven't already, now is the perfect time to get involved — every door knock and every conversation counts.
The DC Council recently passed an update to the Tenant Opportunity to Purchase Act (TOPA), giving tenants stronger rights when their building goes up for sale. For renters in 4B01 — where nearly 60% of households rent — this is a big deal. Dave has been following this legislation closely and will work as ANC commissioner to make sure residents know their rights and have access to legal resources when they need them.
Residents have raised concerns about speeding on Shepherd Street NW for years. As your ANC commissioner, Dave will formally request a traffic study from DDOT and advocate for traffic calming measures — speed humps, raised crosswalks, and better lighting — to make our streets safer for everyone walking, biking, and playing outside.
